wal-mart and its "shark repellant against the unions"

wal-mart may be getting a new pay scheme, according to this article.

it would be great if it meant that pressure from unions caused wal-mart to raise wages. but that doesn't look like it's going to be the case.

meanwhile there's been another attempt to organize workers at a wal-mart in manitoba; it would be the first wal-mart in north america to have union employees. unclear what came of it, but my guess is that it failed, otherwise we'd have heard about it by now.
